Super Saiyan - SSJ

The transformation from Saiyan to Super Saiyan requires a lot of rage and power. When a Saiyan transforms, their hair shoots up due to the push of his Aura. their pupils go green, their muscles grow rapidly. Their Aura turns golden and their overall power increases amazingly. Goku first turned Super Saiyan on Namek when Frieza blew Krillin up. Seeing his friend die, his rage overcame him and he transformed and whooped Frieza's ass.

Ultra Super Saiyan - USSJ

This stage isn't quite SSj Stage 2, but more like a SSJ 1.5. The fighter's power grows yet their speed drops slightly. This is due to the amazing size of their muscles, which limits their movement.

Super Saiyan 2 - SSJ2

Gohan was the first to reach this stage, when Cell killed #16, unleashing all of Gohan's anger. In this new form, the Saiyan's power grows multiplies many times over, their hair grows longer, goes higher and more spiked; their muscles grow and their aura is larger and brighter. In this new transformation Gohan was easily able to kill all of the Cell Jrs and disable Cell.

Super Saiyan 3 - SSJ3

The ultimate 'tailess' Super Saiyan form, the Saiyan begins to look more menacing. The eyebrows disappear and the eyes are more slitted; their body grows; their hair stretches down to their waist and the aura is now an electrical crackle. In this form, Goku was able to do real damage to some of their most powerful opponents.

Super Saiyan 4 - SSJ4

This form is the first new stage to be introduced in DBGT. Unlike the other SSJ stages, SSj4 requires the the Saiyan to have a tail, and can only transform into this state after becoming a Golden Oozaru. The SSj4's look is extremely different from the others. Their hair remains black and their body is covered in a layer of red fur and their get a new pair of leather pants.. Although Goku was wished back into a child, when he was in the SSj4 stage he became adult again.

If a Saiyan with a tail(Sjs are born with tails) looks at the full moon, their transform into a giant Were-Monkey/Gorrila and go rampant. Vegeta says that a large amount of radiation is required to go Oozaru and the only source of this radiation is from a full moon, but Bardock(Goku's Father), found a way to create an energy ball which radiates the right amount of power for the tails to absorb, removing the need for any moon. When a Saiyan goes Oozaru, their power grows more than 100x but only specially trained Saiyans can control themselves in the state.

Golden Oozaru

This stage of Oozaru requires a Saiyan with the ability to go SSJ to look at a 'Full Earth'. This, like a full moon makes them into a Oozaru, but Golden. When Vegeta talks about the Legendary SSj many millennia ago, it shows a Golden Oozaru. This stage is 100x the power of a Average Oozaru.
