Since it has been over 500 years since they had guests, Princess Snake is intrigued by the arrival of Goku and tries to trick him into staying by placing Sleepy Grass into his food. When that doesn't work, she tries to force him into staying. Princess Snake has a dream mirror which she uses to discern Goku's dreams.
